ABOUT DOLLOP CREATIVE

Named “Dollop” for the many mediums Katie works in... a little bit of everything, from acrylic painting to graphic and website design, Dollop Creative is a multidisciplinary studio where fine art, design, and storytelling come together.

Every project begins like a small idea, something simple, like a wish, and evolves through a blend of craft, strategy, and intuition. From murals and branding to original artwork, the goal is always the same: to create work that feels alive in its environment, full of personality, meaning, and quiet magic.

ABOUT KATIEI

I studied painting at the Emily Carr Institute of Art + Design in Vancouver, one of only around 50 students accepted into the program. There I learned to think conceptually, communicate emotion through color, and develop a disciplined creative process rooted in both experimentation and intention.

My first jobs were on flower farms and later as a floral designer. I’ve always been drawn to flowers, and that early work still shows up in how I think about composition, color, and natural form.

From there, I expanded into design and digital work, studying at The Art Institute of Portland and graduating with a BFA in Graphic Design in July 2013. During that time I learned code, graphic design, and the foundations of building intuitive, user centered experiences.

My work naturally evolved into both design and marketing. Over the years I have managed media buys, designed and redesigned corporate identities, built quarterly and annual marketing plans, and created print campaigns, digital ads, web banners, email campaigns, landing pages, and full brand systems.

I have also written articles, managed websites, coordinated cross department brand alignment, and guided projects from concept through execution, both in house and as a freelancer.

Dollop Creative began in 2010 as a personal studio practice and was formally established in 2012. Over time it grew into the foundation for my work across fine art, design, and storytelling.

Today, that path continues through Dollop Creative, where fine art, design, and storytelling come together to create work that feels thoughtful, intentional, and full of quiet magic.

Over the years, I’ve built a rare hybrid skill set spanning:

  • Brand identity systems: logo design and visual identity development

  • Fine art: acrylic painting, murals, pyrography, and jewelry design

  • Graphic design: print and digital collateral, marketing materials, and full brand systems

  • Marketing strategy: social media, email marketing, campaign planning, and execution

  • Web experience design: user experience, wayfinding, and SEO informed structure

  • Writing and communication: branded website content, social media, blogs, and print materials

  • Technical tools: Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop) and Canva

  • Web platforms: Wix, Shopify, and WordPress

  • UX and SEO: applied to structure, navigation, and content strategy

  • Marketing systems and tools: Mailchimp, Klaviyo, Constant Contact, Frankie, Microsoft 365, Acrobat, Google Docs, JAM, Jonas, and Tripleseat
