Artist Statement

I grew up in Corvallis, Oregon, surrounded by open fields, wildflowers, and painted landscapes that shaped the way I see the world. Nature became my first classroom, teaching me to notice patterns, color, and the quiet beauty often hidden in plain sight.

My father, a magician and artist, taught me to paint at an early age. From him, I learned that art has the power to spark curiosity, tell stories, and invite people to look a little closer. That sense of wonder continues to guide my work today.

I’m inspired by the natural world and the hidden patterns that connect it. Organic geometry, wildlife, native flora, and the intricate systems found throughout nature continue to fascinate me, as do the places where nature, science, symbolism, and the metaphysical spark curiosity. I’m drawn to the mysteries that invite exploration and reveal there is always more to discover.

At the heart of my work is storytelling. I’m inspired by the underdog, by individual journeys, and by the quiet moments that reveal strength, resilience, and hope. Whether I’m creating a mural or painting in the studio, I hope my work encourages people to slow down, look closer, and find meaning in places they may have otherwise passed by.

I believe in trusting instinct, human intuition, and the quiet signals we often overlook. I try to move through the world with awareness and kindness, and to let those values quietly guide both my life and my work. One phrase I often come back to is, “It helps to paint hearts throughout the negative space.”

Every painting is a leap of faith. It begins with a blank canvas, an idea, and the willingness to trust your own creativity, even when the outcome is still unknown.
